Deanna was born in El Paso over 51 years ago and has a deep love for the Southwest, which she has called home her entire life. Growing up in District 3, she attended Bonham Elementary and MacArthur Middle School before graduating from Burges High School in 1991.

Her upbringing was shaped by her mother, who instilled values of kindness, service, and a strong sense of community. She fondly remembers her first job at McDonald’s on Montana Street, later moving to Village Inn on Airway.

Academically, she pursued her education at EPCC and UTEP, ultimately earning her Bachelor’s in Business Management and Master’s in Global Management from the University of Phoenix in Santa Teresa, NM. Balancing work and studies, she also raised her son after her first husband’s passing.

Now happily married for almost 9 years, she and her husband have a blended family of four children and one grandchild. Her husband is a proud member of  CWA 6733 therefore she understands the significance of labor unions.

With over 30 years of corporate experience, she has honed skills in budget management, staffing, employee education, and effective collaboration. Her leadership extends beyond the corporate world—she served as president of the employee resource group HACEMOS, supporting initiatives both locally and nationally.

In her pursuit of continuous learning, she completed the Udacity Nanodegree Program in 2019, focusing on Introduction to Computer Programming. She also participated in the AT&T Diversity & Inclusion Employee Group Leadership Academy in 2021 and the HACEMOS Emerging Latina Leadership Program in 2023.

Recently, she expanded her expertise by attending the Jay Shetty Life Coach Certification School in 2024. Additionally, she completed the Full Stack Web Developer Program through the El Paso Community Foundation in the same year.

Her commitment to community service is commendable. She has been actively involved in various organizations across El Paso serving all of its residents.
